Once I am done concentrating on tomorrow's big show at the Farmer's Market, I will immediately start work on my Wedding Cake Toppers and Center Pieces.
Yesterday, I added a listing for a Custom Wedding Cake Topper on Etsy. I think its really important to leave an option for brides (and grooms too!) to customize their own gem tree cake topper. I have a list of more than 80 gems, all colors represented, 5 standard colors of wire with 7 specialty colors, and a choice of different bases that would work with a cake. It can sometimes be hard to find exactly the right piece already created, I understand it. I'm hoping my custom order listings will ease that frustration! I have the gems broken down into colors, and I will be getting the list up on the website here shortly, to make it easier to find what you're looking for.
The bigger project will be starting the Center Pieces. I'm thinking of having them available in groups of 10. I haven't figured out pricing yet, I need to do some cost accounting and research before I announce it. The choices will be to have Mini Gem Trees or Large Gem Trees. I can incorporate little stands into the wire roots if you'd like, to hold a place card. You can also request a different style of gem tree if you wish, I have no problems with that! I figured I'd start with the basics first.
In addition to weddings, these tree configurations would also work great for baby showers and anniversary parties. The nice thing is, you can always keep your cake topper or center pieces around, to remind you of the special event! They will never go bad. :-)
Well, I'm off to go prepare for tomorrow's show! I will post after the event to let you know how it went!
I will be at the Minneapolis Farmer's Market this coming Saturday, September 29th, from 6:30-1:30pm.
I am working hard at getting into the Har Mar Mall Rock Show October 13-14th, and the Minnesota Mineral Club Show in Cottage Grove the following weekend, October 20-21. I will definitely make a formal announcement once I am accepted in.
I am hoping to get into a holiday show of some sorts for November. There are a few churches and private venues out there that I'm researching. I'm having such a hard time figuring our if craft shows, art shows, or new age healing shows will work best for my gem trees! It seems they're a little bit of everything- decor, collector, and healing.
I made some new gem trees over the weekend, including a Large Fluorite, a Mini Rhodochrosite, and Mini Fancy Jasper. I'd love to get them posted on Etsy, but I'm not sure I'll have time to! Its a bit frantic this week to get all the gem tree tags made up, attached to the gem tree, and then pack them all up for the show. But I'll try my best to get some photos at the very least. They're very gorgeous trees!
If you haven't already, please follow my page on Facebook! Search for Anne's Wire Gem Trees, or like it here. I post photos, questions and what-not on there. I have a question posted, and I'd love your opinion! I have some gorgeous Ruby Zoisite gems, I was wondering if you would like to see it in a Bonsai or a Pine Tree! Please leave your answer on my FB page!
And Happy Monday, if you're not having it already! Mondays aren't the greatest, but at least they only last 24 hours, and its one day closer to Friday.
African Turquoise Mini-Bonsai Gem Tree
This is a really pretty, well-balanced yin-yang African Turquoise, mounted on Azurite-Malachite rock base.
Green & Brown Opal Pine Gem Tree
I love the look of this Green & Brown Opal pine tree, it reminds me of pine trees out in the Wild.
Serpentine Large Gem Tree
This gem tree sure is a talker! He'll tell you about the truth of the matter. He also loves bringing sun to a rainy day.
Wax Opal Large Gem Tree
This one reminds me of a birch tree, minus the leaf colors. It is quiet but bright, ready to bring sun and love to your life.
I adjusted my prices on Etsy this morning, to reflect new pricing. I'm going to be charging a set amount per tree style. Here's the breakout:
Mini Gem Tree: $40
Large Gem Tree: $70
Mini Bonsai Gem Tree: $60
Large Bonsai Gem Tree: $100
Wispy & Two Leaf Gem Trees: $30 or as marked (on sale right now)
This is the start of my move towards more custom gem trees on Etsy. Hopefully I did the right thing here! Many people have warned me about setting my prices too low. I think I've struck a balance between the affordable mini, and the well-worth it large. I'm trying to make mini and large sets, and then offer a deal for the two. Its in the works! Right now I have my hands completely full of trying to get ready for the farmer's market sale next weekend. :-)
I will be at the Minneapolis Farmers' Market at 200 E Lyndale Ave. N, Minneapolis, Saturday September 29th, from 6:30-1:30pm. This will be my first show/venue, and I couldn't be more excited! If you live in the Minneapolis area, please stop by and say hi, I'd love to see you!
I will be offering special pricing on my entire stock. Prices are yet to be determined, but there's talk of some two-for-one deals, and making mini and large gem tree sets. My jewelry trees will be priced between $20-30.
I think I'm going to have a very busy week ahead, getting ready for the market! There are tags to print, postcards to make, and custom order forms to print. I think once I get going here, I'm going to be passing a lot of this printing work off to someone else!
I just thought I would share the exciting news with you! I have to get back to work, but have a great rest of the week!
Well, I enjoy change anyways! ;-) And I am working hard on making some marketing and product changes!
In the near future, all gem trees that you see will be custom orders on Etsy. You will be able to order the exact gem tree, or make changes to the wire and base. This way, I can present many different models to you, but it will be customized to fit YOU.
I've also decided to offer a new unique base: a real Bonsai base. I am trying to source an amount of good Bonsai pots, but in the meantime they're going to vary a little bit. The ultimate goal is to get wooden bases instead of using all clay. The gem tree is mounted using clay so it won't move, and then the pot is filled with sand. If you don't like the Bonsai pot look, no worries, I still offer rock mounted, glass bowl mounted, or no base!
I am going to be discontinuing the Two Leaf and Wispy lines in the near future, and concentrating on the Mini and Large gem trees & Bonsais, as well as the Pine Tree. Right now they are on sale for a reduced price on Etsy!
By the way, the Alternating Leaf Gem Tree was officially named the Mini Bonsai Gem Tree. It has the same structure, only fewer branches, as the Large Bonsai. I am happy it worked out that way, so I have a Mini and Large standard gem tree, and then a Mini and Large Bonsai tree. Now, for the Pine Tree... hmmm, only one size there so far! ;-)
There are five new gem trees on Etsy this morning including: Large Labradorite, Mini-Bonsai White Howlite and Crazy Lace Agate, a Large Bonsai Green Aventurine, and a Multi-Tourmaline Pine. All these new gem trees are just so amazing and unique! The Labradorite is great for vision work, the Howlite is very soothing, the Crazy Lace Agate is protective, the Multi-Tourmaline is so fun with all the bright colors, and the Green Aventurine is a simply stunning home decor piece!
I vision having a page where I basically give a "prescription" for people's needs/desires. As example, if you're having problems sleeping, I can create a gem tree that will help you sleep (Blue Lace Agate for instance, really helps calm the mind when sleeping). Or, if you're having a hard time dealing with the past, there are many gems that can help heal and move you on to a brighter future. There are also a few gems that specifically work great with animals, that will help calm and heal. The Pink Andean Opal, for instance, helps calm my timid Angie better than anything I've tried!. These gem trees would also be great for massage and healing sessions, as they can help the patient focus and heal; and equally as useful to the healer to help transmit energies.
On an interesting note, My gem trees were called "useless" by one boutique owner over the weekend. That's funny, considering everything that isn't food, or a place to sleep, is rather useless! These gem trees deserve a great deal of respect and appreciation for what they are, and for what they do for us. They are living gem crystals, and vibrant wire sculptures of real trees.
In a nutshell, there are a million ideas here, but only some that are going to work. I look forward in the next days, to see what happens!
