This year, we ARE attending THE rock show in Cottage Grove! I've heard its the biggest show in Minnesota, being held by the Minnesota Mineral Club. They had an empty space and asked if we were interested. Unfortunately, I had to turn down the invite the first time around, because my other half will be on call this weekend and I was too afraid at the thought of running the show myself. People called me a fool for passing up the opportunity, so I let the club know if they didn't fill the spot by Wednesday, that I would fill it anyways! I think things are going to work out well in the end, I just needed a little push! Kevin (my other half) is still on call, but our boss has agreed to let us make other arrangements, so that he can help me with the show. Hurrah! I need you guys to support me in this decision now, by giving me lots of support, and yes, sales are greatly appreciated! ;-) I need to put trust in things working out, instead of fearing the worst. The show will be great, because there are great people there!
Just a small recap on Har Mar Mall before I get back to work... We met lots of great new people, and had a blast! Unfortunately the turnout for the event was quite small, as opposed to the same time last year. We still made a profit, but it was small. I'm really bummed the show is dying out. I grew up with that rock show at Har Mar, and I always look forward to them. The mall is greatly declining, and I'm not sure if the event is as well advertised as it should be. I'd love to see more people there, supporting local vendors. I'll give the February show next year a try, but if it continues to decline, I may end up having to pull out altogether.
All right, back to work for me! I ended up buying two bags full of beautiful new rock bases, and I'm going to be extremely busy in the next two days to fill a bunch of them with gem trees! I'll post photos of the finished products. There are two very sparkly bases in particular, that will be my feature pieces. :-)
