I thought I already did a post on the Har Mar Show, but apparently not! I apologize. I've been wrapped up, literally, in making my new bracelet line this last week. I decided to discontinue the former Mala Bracelets, and just make bracelets out of one type of gem, instead of mixing them. The results look so fabulous! I am very happy with them. Whatever doesn't sell at my show tomorrow, will be listed on Etsy next week. I will probably have a few new gem trees to add as well, if they don't sell first.
So... Har Mar Mall. It was a very interesting show! The weather turned out to be beautiful both days, and team that with no advertising, it was a thin crowd. We still did really well and made some profit! People still swarmed the table, and we had a few people from previous shows stop by and visit. I'd call it a success! I really want to get into other rock shows around the region, but unfortunately I'm finding them all very full with waiting lists. I'm hoping my time on the list will come and I get to attend more! But anyways... We talked with several vendors there, and very few were able to make their money back. We count ourselves lucky to have done it, but we also really work our butts off! Someone is always at the table, and we're always adjusting merchandise. We noticed several vendors kept their tables unattended and weren't around to answer questions. Its the one simple thing you can do, to improve your sales- pay attention to your customer!
We have a show coming up tomorrow at the Midtown Music Festival. It is held at the Midtown Global Market on Lake Street in Minneapolis. I heard that there will be thousands of people in Minneapolis this weekend, and I hope to see many of them at our booth! I cannot tell you how nervous it makes me though! There's always a fear there, a fear of being really successful. I don't know why! I've also had scouters attend shows, and as much as you dream of going somewhere with your business, its when it finally does happen...! I was actually found on Etsy and invited to this juried show. I feel very honored to have been chosen! I spend so much time on my business, and it is such a great feeling when you get noticed in the sea of sellers on Etsy.
I think I'm going to cut down the gem tree line a bit, and still focus on things that are easier to sell. The Tree of Life Hangings have been selling so well, and I am hoping the same for my new bracelets when they hit the public. I have plans of developing the current Hangings into a larger size, so they can also be hung on a regular wall as décor. I want to redesign the jewelry tree stands, and give them all bases. I have a few marble slabs, and we're going to be cutting up some raw wood off a tree, and use the circular cuts as bases. I am really close to developing my unique cat collars too, out of my friendship bracelet designs. I'm still not finding any wear on my girl Angie's collar, which means they're extremely durable! She has long nails and has a tendency to scratch a lot, and after a fashion her collars really wear and they normally need to get replaced once a year. The other fun part about the bracelets is that they're fun, colorful and very unique! Once I get the design figured out and the first prototype is done, I'll post a picture. Its not exactly a gem tree, but maybe if I add a gem they can be added to my current line? :-)
All right, back to work for me! I have to figure out some sort of signage for the show tomorrow. I'm also trying to decide if I need more business cards or not. Its amazing how many we hand out at shows!
Have a great weekend!
