You're looking at the first of two new products! This is Angie's collar. Angie is my special needs cat, if you remember from previous posts. The collar is made from a hand knotted (by me!) friendship bracelet, and attached to special velcro.
To give you a short background, Angie moved into our house after spending some time on the streets in 2008. After she injured her leg in 2012 (under mysterious circumstances), she has had issues with things lying on the floor and even entering certain rooms from time to time. Being that I'm a crystal healer, I set to work finding a crystal to work with her! I found she LOVES pink Andean Opals. Andeans are great for timid pets with an abusive past. I also mixed in Olive Jade (for support during stressful times) and Crazy Lace Agate (for help with sudden traumas). The results have been phenomenal.
Angie has been having emotional issues in our new place. She is terrified if anyone comes to the door, and spends the next 10-15 minutes trying to find a suitable hiding spot. She was also having a bout of being afraid of things lying on the floor, such as toys and scratchers. We're not sure why she has these spells.
I was having issues reassuring her, so I set to work turning her special collar into a healing collar. If you can see in the photo, there are 6 attached tiny Andean Opal collars in the design. That's all it took, and Angie has gained the confidence to be herself! She's no longer having timid issues or panicking, and she's even being nicer to our newest addition, Gracie!
As I've explained through other posts, cats are VERY reactive to crystal energy. Both crystal and cat have a deep connection with the earth and outdoors. Cats will tolerate different forms of crystals, and in different places (such as in the home or around their neck). Its a good idea to slowly introduce your cat(s) to new crystals, so they can get used to the energies. Some cats will take right to them, and others might have an emotional reaction. They will let you know what's a good fit for them energy-wise, and what's not.
I plan on offering two types of healing products for pets. The first will be the collars as you see above, but the future collars will be made with breakaway components and a bell (bell is optional). The other style will have a gem in either a cage or bead cap, that you can easily attach to an existing collar. The collars will feature small gems, and the clip on style will have a little bigger, up to about 1/2 inch in size. I will have a variety of gems available, as well as patterns for the collars.
The other idea with this collar is to make something well constructed. If you look at the photo below, you will see this is a standard cat collar, probably made of nylon. Angie's claws are rarely trimmed, and she scratches often. She ruins her collars within a few months. If you look closely, you'll see the threads are now fuzzy and slowly pulling from the collar. It should be smooth and neatly stitched. Its not. If you look at the first picture of the collar I designed with the Andeans, you'll see NO WEAR. Angie has been wearing this collar for the SAME AMOUNT OF TIME. I am not lying! These collars are made with a heavy duty embroidery floss, and floss is very tough! If you remember the friendship bracelets we used to make and wear as kids, they took forever to show wear and finally fall off (depending how it was tied together). These collars will withstand a lot more wear, tear and abuse than your standard pet store cat collar! And of course, these guys have some super cool designs and colors!
I'm still working on the next idea, and that would be a new spin to a healing bracelet (for humans). I can take the same concept as above, using my hand knotted friendship bracelets, and add gems! The concept photo I show below is with small gem chips attached. I will make some future bracelets with the gems knotted into the design. I can use a variety of gem shapes too, which I'm pretty excited about getting into!
I've been making friendship bracelets all of my life, and I REALLY enjoy them! I didn't realize until I started studying chakra healing and color therapy, that I've been using my bracelets all these years as color therapy and even mandalas! The colors are planned, and some are very eastern design. I'd love to be the first to really put the concepts together into a really powerful product.
And... I'm going to try and manage to throw these products in under the Spirit Gem Designs name! Look for a bit of rearranging and re-hashing of the current business. I want this business to be flexible with the ability to grow with fun, new products. But... I am NOT giving up my trees! Trees are definitely my main product, and what my main focus will be. By adding friendship bracelets, I get to have fun making them, AND I get to play with another crystal healing form.
These products will also get more into the prescription concept, where you can pick them according to your need, or you can have a counseling session with me to figure out what is best suited for the situation. I have done a lot of reading lately, and have found a new way to look at the whole crystal healing realm. I'll write more about it later!
All right, now that I have that out of my mind... time to continue getting ready for this coming weekend's rock show! I hope to have a few of these concepts at the show, to show off and gain feedback from my audience. My Etsy store has really taken off in sales, and I'm hurrying as fast as I can to replenish gem tree inventory before the big day arrives! I have 10 new gem trees that I listed on Etsy this morning, and it'll be interesting to see which make it to the rock show! Of the 5 I listed last week, I sold 3 of those already. I am really impressed, and REALLY happy! Yay!
And... I hit over 300 sales as of last week at Etsy! Let's keep the momentum going, thanks for the support!
